Car registration plates are mandatory number of numeric or alphanumeric codes by which any car can be easily identified within the submitted region’s record. The Car registration plates in UK are rectangular or square in shape and the dimension is same as what mentioned in Motor Car Act law. All cars manufactured after 1 January 1973 must display their Car Registration Plates of reflex-reflecting material, white at the front and yellow at the rear, with black bold characters. The industry standard size for front number plate is 520mmx110mm, the rear plate is either same size or 285mmx203mm or 533mmx152mm.

The Car Registration plates which issued 1903 and ran until 1932, consisting of one or two letter followed by a number from 1 to 9999. ‘B’ indicated Lancashire, ‘FP’ indicating Rutland and many more indication. After the licensing authority reached 9999, it was allocated another two letter word of number pattern. It was allocated as first come first serve basis. After wards to deal with the growing population demands the pattern of the Car Registration Plates changed several times and hence on 1983 to 2001 the available range of Car Registration Plates were A21 AAA to Y999 YYY, the numbers 1-20 being held back for later implementations.
